This Creative Apocalypse begins and ends with the same blessing: "happy are those who follow the words in this Book!" The great prophet Bob Marley summarized this blessing when he shouted, "as it was in the beginning, so shall it be in the end!" Our lives begin and end just like the entire flow of the Bible. Paradise is our origin as those created in the image and likeness of Love. Plenty of twists and turns take place between then and the End, but death is nothing to be feared, as it is a return to our idyllic roots. However, our return to the original state is now informed by a much wider, even all-encompassing perspective that was unavailable to us at the beginning. In the like manner, John ends with a vision of the city of new Jerusalem, which contains the Paradise of God within it. Sophisticated technology meets natural simplicity in holy matrimony!
Due to numerous constraints, there is much in this Book that I have obviously not addressed, though I have touched on all the major themes. Christians will surely complain that I haven't touched on "the second coming," but I feel as if this topic is so misunderstood that it isn't even worth delving into, to be perfectly honest. The Revelation is not about that though; it is a vision of Jesus, and John working out how all are included in the Messiah's Rule and Reign. Each major theme was touched upon briefly, so as to whet one's appetite for the Book with a much more compelling picture than what most pimp preachers and punk politicians paint. I am not attempting to testify as if I have the only truth about this book, but I offer a much more commonly accepted understanding of this Scripture (at least, in the scholarly community) than the garbage that gets pushed in most churches. My hope is now that my readers will look at this Book for themselves with renewed interest. I hope that I've made it abundantly clear that this Writing is not about "the end of the world" but about Apocalyptic Creativity!
It is only fitting to end this series with these words: "Let those who don’t have God’s approval go without it, and let filthy people continue to be filthy. Let those who have God’s approval continue to have it, and let unique people continue to be unique." Friends, may we end all of the bickering about who is on the in and who is on the out. May we all set out to do the work that we were put here to do, and not worry about what anyone else may or may not think. C'est la vie! My prayer and meditation is that we would all put forth our own vision and hope of a new utopia, and have a spirited dialogue concerning these matters. Everyone's perspective has a place at Jesus' table, and we can all come together in Love to happily discuss any matter. No topic is off limits in the Kindom of Love, and my own personal faith, hope, and love is that we would all open up about matters that matter in society. May subjects like politics, religion, and spirituality no longer be a cause for separation, but a motivator for us to unite. It shall be so now, and forevermore. Peace, PEACE!!
